The name Pygmy is used by anthropologists to describe any human group whose males are less than 4 feet, 11 inches in average height.
The best-known Pygmy groups are those of tropical Africa, but they also include some of the Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert and the Asian Pygmies known as the Negritos.
