The first Academy Awards ceremony was held in the Blossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on May 16, 1929.
All awards were presented by Douglas Fairbanks, then president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
There were no surprises because the winners’ names had already been made public in February.
Since April 14, 1969, it has been held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in Los Angeles.
